I agree that everyone needs to exercise tolerance, but what I won't tolerate is needless cruelty.

I think there is lot of emphasis and pressure to accept everything around us, or else we'll be labelled intolerant. Sometimes it's important to make a stand and to say what you think and believe.

I think that it is important to tolerate other cultures, in the sence that it is important to be open minded.

But for me its something called beeing too tolerant, when you start tollerating the intollerable.

I think thats the problem with some people.

To tolerate the repressing aspect of a culture - I think thats a misunderstanding of tolleration.

Also questionable is the defence I know some people make on the issue of suicide bombings in Israel(because of agony towards Israels occupation,that is). I can see how Israels policies are messed up. I cant, howewer emphasize that suicide - missions in the name of religion is defendable.

Of course, these things happen more in the name of religion than culture, but for me apologizing for these actions reminds me of some of the same things you mentioned. People dont find these problems to part of a religious indoctrination(something that they are), but places the blame on the West.

Sometimes people really need to understand that the problem is in their own way of thinking, in the way theyve been brought up.

I made the point very clearly that it is unrealistic to be happy all the time, but that happy, positive people bounce back quicker than negative people.

If you feel like shit, then there's nothing wrong in admitting it. But people with a higher propensity for positivity will feel like shit less frequently, and for shorter periods of time.

Choose your mood and run with it.

If you genuinely have a reason to be happy all the time that's great but this simply cannot be the case all the time.

You cannot make assumptions that people should be happy all the time either, you cannot be in a position to comment on an individual’s demeanour being detached from their circumstances, their reason for not being chipper all the time.

We all have low moments at some point in life and it is simply unrealistic not to accept this. If you are responding positively all the time I think you are fooling yourself or covering something up and not facing up to reality.

Honesty is the best policy here, if you are happy admit it, if not admit that. Often, if asked “How are you?”, responses like “Actually I’m feeling really shit” will completely throw the questioner, it’s like they expect you to answer with “Yeah really good thanks”.

What complexities are you referring to? Evolution by natural selection accounts easily for the adaptations we see in the natural world, including the human eye. If you haven't read it already, then I recommend you read "Climbing Mount Improbable" by Richard Dawkins, which explains how many complex adaptations arose via descent with modification.

Which is altruism, a mechanism of nature we also know very little about, other than its immediately beneficial effects which one could easily interpret as forward thinking.

And in ignoring these complexities, we leave a vacuum of knowledge, free to be filled by theists and their own brand of "knowledge".
